Landstar to pay over $40 million after truck accident

Landstar System Inc.must pay $40.2 million after a jury found them liable for a 2007 truck accident.

A 49-year-old woman sued the company after a truck driver ran a stop sign and caused a car accident that killed her husband. Landstar owned the truck that was driven by the man, but the the driver was not a Landstar-employee.

The jury found that the company was liable, but the company and their insurance providers are looking to appeal this ruling.

Georgia woman killed in dump truck crash

A Georgia woman was killed after a dump truck collision occurred in Macon last week.

According to authorities, the accident occurred as as the woman was attempting to make a left turn and she drove in front of a 40-year-old man that was driving a Mac dump truck.

The man tried to stop the truck in order to avoid a collision with the woman. He was unable to do so and he slammed into the right side of her car, pushing it into another vehicle. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the woman was pronounced dead.

One killed in accident on Interstate 20

One person was killed in a truck accident on Interstate 20 on Thursday.

The accident occurred on Interstate 20 near Interstate 285 and involved a tractor trailer and a car. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found a red car smashed underneath the tractor trailer.

The details of the accident are unknown at this time. Georgia State Patrol and Atlanta Fire and Rescue were both at the scene. The victim’s names have not been released.

Firefighters injured in truck accident

Three firefighters in Coweta County were injured in a truck accident after the fire truck they were riding in flipped over.

The accident occurred around noon when the fire fighters were on their way to a brush fire. Two of the fire fighters were taken to a local hospital and one was flown to Atlanta Medical Center.

The cause of the accident is not known at this time. Georgia State Patrol and Coweta County police are investigating the accident in order to determine further details. Injuries sustained in the accident were considered non-life threatening.

Woman killed in head-on truck collision

A woman was killed in a head-on collision  between a car and a dump truck.

The accident occurred at 12:30 p.m. on Candler Road when the woman’s Kia crossed the center line and struck a dump truck head-on. According to Georgia State Patrol, the truck driver was uninjured, but the woman was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained.

The woman’s SUV flipped over and it took fire crews over an hour to free her from the wrecked vehicle. The road was shut down for nearly three hours after the accident.

Box truck slams into house, nearly hits woman inside

A 75-year-old woman was watching TV in her home when she was nearly struck by a box truck the slammed into her house.

According to authorities, the accident occurred as a Royal Cup Coffee Company box truck lost control and ran off the roadway. The truck then hit a power pole before slamming into a home. The man was taken to the hospital after the accident.

Police continue to investigate in order to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the truck while traveling on Highway 211. The roadway was temporarily closed while crews worked to replace the power line.

Woman injured after car struck by semi-truck

A woman from Ray City was injured after her car was struck by a truck on Highway 133 over the weekend.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the woman was stopped at an intersection on Friday evening when the woman  attempted to make  U-turn and collided with an international semi-truck driven by a 33-year-old man.

The impact caused both vehicles to be knocked off of the roadway. Emergency crews responded to the scene and had to extricate the woman from her vehicle. She was then transferred to the Colquitt Regional Medical Center  to be treated for her injuries.

Woman injured in truck accident on Ga. Route 400

The passenger in a vehicle was injured after debris fell from a truck and struck the car. The accident caused the northbound lanes on Georgia Route 400 to be closed while crews cleaned up.

According to police, the accident occurred around 6 p.m. when a tool of utility clamp fell from the truck and spilled on to the highway. The truck that was carrying the items, has not yet been found.  The extent of the injuries are unknown at this point and police continue to investigate.

Head-on truck collision leaves one man dead

A truck accident in Cherokee County, Ga has left on man dead on Highway 369.

The accident occurred as a man was driving a pickup truck down the roadway and swerved and hit a garbage truck head-on.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to North Fulton Hospital to be treated, but he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the garbage truck was not injured. Police have said that the accident remains under investigation at this time.

Man killed in motorcycle and truck accident

A 20-year-old man from Georgia was killed in a motorcycle and truck accident in Scranton.

According to authorities, the accident occurred as the man pulled out of the a gas station on Main Ave. around 10:40 a.m. and collided with the truck. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The 73-year-old man and 43-2-year-old woman that were in the truck were also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident cause Main Ave. to be closed for hours as investigators gathered information from the scene.
