Truck stuck on railroad tracks in Douglasville

Posted on September 7th, 2011 No Comments

A northbound truck carrying paper products became stuck on the railroad tracks just before a train came. The truck was freed before the train came and allowed it to avoid injury, but this incident has officials concerned about the intersection.

This was the same area where a dump truck was struck in April because trucks are not supposed to cross there, but they do not see the signs. The signs direct traffic to another crossing.

The city of Douglasville has 15 railroad crossings and has 66 reported accident since 1976. City officials have aid that they want to speed limit for trains in the city to be lowered.

Investigators are looking into a bizarre accident at the Edgewood-Candler MARTA station in Atlanta.  Firefighters and rescue crews worked to save a man who got his foot severed after getting it stuck between a platform and an oncoming train.  Rescue workers do not know why or how the MARTA passenger got his foot wedged into the platform, but according to firefighters, a train operator didn’t notice the man until he passed him.

Rescue workers took the man to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.  There’s no word on his condition and his name has not yet been released.
