Driver sentenced after fatal bus crash

The driver of a school bus that was involved in a fatal crash this fall has now been sentenced to 12 months probation and a $600 fine.

According to the report done by Georgia State Patrol, the driver did not complete six hours of the bus training. He also failed to stay in his lane while driving and students said that they were scared to ride with him.

He also had other driving infractions on his record including hitting a dog and hitting another bus. The mother of the teenager that was killed in the crash stormed out of the court room after the sentencing.

Two people were injured after a bus crashed into a Kentucky Fried Chicken just after 7 a.m. today.

One passenger and a bus driver were injured in the crash, but it is still unknown what caused the crash. According to witnesses, the bus driver left the parking lot and struck a curb while it was making a wide left turn onto the roadway.

The driver then struck the KFC. Investigators are looking into whether or not the driver suffered from some type of medical event that caused him to lose control. Fire and police crews arrived at the scene and cleared it in a hour. The two victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

A tour bus carrying 20 high school students was involved in an accident on Interstate 75.

According to Georgia State Patrol, the accident occurred as an SUV merged into the lane next to him while he was driving in a construction zone. The vehicle then struck a bus and pushed it off of the roadway, causing it to hit an overpass.

There were 52 passengers aboard the bus and one had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter. They were heading back to the school after a trip to Florida when the accident occurred.

Two adults were injured after a bus accident in Hall County occurred at 11:15 a.m. on Friday.

Officials continue to investigate the accident at this time, but it is known that the bus driver was backing out onto the roadway when the accident occurred. The bus was then struck by the cargo van that was heading north.

S. Hall school bus involved in crash

A S. Hall school bus accident occurred on Interstate I-95 near Exit 20 around 4:25 p.m. when students were riding home on the bus.

The accident occurred as a van cut across two lanes of traffic in order to make it to the exit ramp and it clipped the front of the school bus.

No one was seriously injured in the accident and another school bus arrived at the scene in order to transport the children. Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the accident.

Forty students taken to hospital after bus accident

Nearly 40 middle school and high school students were taken to the hospital after being involved in a chain-reaction bus accident.

The bus was carrying 45 students and was heading to Glynn Academy, Glynn Middle School, Risley Early College Academy on Georgia 303. The accident occurred around 8 a.m. when the bus, a car, an SUV and a pickup truck all crashed.

Twenty-six middle school students and 19 high school students were transported to the hospital, but none of their injuries were said to be serious. According to the preliminary investigation, the bus caused the accident.

The bus driver and another driver went to the hospital where they were treated and released. The other two drivers did not go to the hospital.

Peach school bus involved in accident

A Peach County school bus was involved in an accident on Ga. 247 Connector at Walker Road and John E. Sullivan Road.

According to a state trooper, the school bus driver was heading north on John E. Sullivan Road when it collided with an SUV that was attempting to turn east from Walker Road.

The bus was carrying students when the accident occurred, but no serious injury or hospital visits were reported. The accident remains under investigation at this time.

Man killed in Georgia bus crash

An elderly man was killed in a collision with a tour bus in Henry County, Ga.

The 75-year-old man was driving his pickup truck on Ga. 400 and he attempted to make a left turn on the northbound roadway when a tour bus carrying a gospel trio crashed into the truck. Emergency crews and a medical helicopter rushed to the scene to transport the man to the hospital.

He suffered head injuries, but his condition worsened as the trip continued and he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. One passenger in the bus was also injured. The roadway was closed for almost as hour as crews worked and police officials investigated.

A school bus was involved in an accident on Ga. Highway 212 in Rockdale County.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 212 and Oglesby Bridge Road as the driver was picking the students up for their first day of school. According to authorities, the driver of a red Mitsubishi rear-ended the school while it was stopped. The car suffered significant damage.

The school bus had nine students and a driver, but none of them had to go to the hospital after the accident. The driver of the car suffered non-life threatening injuries. Georgia State Patrol will be investigating the accident.
