A woman from Georgia has been injured after a pedestrian  accident in Nassau County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the 27-year-old woman was walking on the shoulder of the road at 2 a.m. when she was struck by a 33-year-old man who was driving down the road. Both people are from Georgia.

The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The accident is still being investigated and no charges have been filed at this time.

A police team that is investigating to see if there are any trends between the bicycling accidents in order to make changes said that no obvious trends appear. In the 20 collisions that were reported this year, no trends were shown.

Factors such as drugs and alcohol or the time of day the accident occurred have varied in all of the accidents. The sheriff’s department have said that extra enforcement on heavily driven roads may help reduce collisions.
