Several Clayton County apartment units were condemned Saturday afternoon after a 3-year-old girl fell through a bathroom floor into the crawl space underneath the building. Residents had been complaining that the apartments had not been kept up very well, including issues involving mice, plumbing, mold and electricity problems. Code enforcement officers inspected the building and condemned 10 units, five of which were vacant.
An apartment resident said the floor had to be incredibly weak for a 3-year-old girl to fall through. The girl's family moved to another unit in the building. The apartment owner had promised to help tenants relocate, police said, but later rescinded his offer.
