Cyclists and drivers need to use more caution while on the roadway

Posted on July 30th, 2010 No Comments

A woman was struck by vehicle in a bicycle accident in Bryan County. The woman was training for the Chicago Marathon when the accident occurred. This incident and another one similar to it have shown that something needs to be done in order to keep cyclists safe on the roadway.

A police team that is investigating to see if there are any trends between the bicycling accidents in order to make changes said that no obvious trends appear. In the 20 collisions that were reported this year, no trends were shown.

Factors such as drugs and alcohol or the time of day the accident occurred have varied in all of the accidents. The sheriff’s department have said that extra enforcement on heavily driven roads may help reduce collisions.
