2 Injured in Minivan, Ambulance Collision

Two people are in the hospital following an Atlanta car accident Thursday involving a Coweta County Ambulance.

According to officials with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department, 39 year-old Renae Sanders and her daughter were traveling in a minivan on Raymond Hill Road Saturday afternoon when she lost control of the vehicle on the rain-slicked road. Officials say the van struck an ambulance and flipped over several times before coming to rest in a ditch.

Sanders and her 14 year-old daughter in the minivan were critically injured in the accident. Sanders was transported to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment following the crash; the teenage passenger was taken o Children’s Health Care at Eagleston Hospital. Both mother and daughter are expected to recover.

The two EMS workers in the ambulance, Dannis Martin and Jeremy Fields, were not injured in the crash and were able to assist the woman and her daughter.
